Special fertilizer [calciumsulphat dihydrat] is used by experienced cacti growers in special soil mixtures (3-5%) for Astrophytum, Ariocarpus, Epithelanta, Turbinicarpus, some Sulcorebutia and Mammillaria. Use Gypsum Solution (1 Tablespoon well stired in 10 l water) for watering the soil (never the plants). The sulphat is micronutrients as well as promoting the micro-organisms in the soil and the calcium is responsible for stable plant cell structures and therefore is important for a healthy plant growth.
