Cyrtanthus obliquus

|12-cm-Topf|This species is common in the southeastern Cape, where its bulbs are wedged between rocks or cling to steep cliffs. The flowering plant is impressive in every way. Its twisted, evergreen, glaucous foliage combines magnificently with the stout stems of the overhanging yellow, red and green flowers. Mature plants prefer full sun, with at least two-thirds of the large bulb above the ground. It requires very less water in winter and blooms in spring and summer. Seedlings do not seem to like full sun and do best in half sun.
