Agave ferdinandi-regis

|11-14 cm Ø|Closely related and often confused with the other royal Agave victoria- reginae, but is less compact, has dark reddish-brown margins instead of silvery ones, and broader, somewhat curved, more loosely arranged leaves. It also grows almost twice as tall as Agave victoria-reginae. It is native to the mountains northeast of Saltillo in northwest Mexico. Requires well-drained soil and light to full sun. Water abundantly in spring and summer and allow to dry out again between waterings. They prefer fresh air and should therefore be overwintered light and dry in a well-ventilated room. If kept completely dry, it can also withstand temperatures of -10°C (14°F). In frost-free areas it can also be cultivated outdoors. [Syn. Agave victoriae-reginae var. laxior; Agave victoriae-regina var. nickelsii]
