Mammillaria haudeana

|3-5 cm Ø|Endemic to Sonora, Mexico at altitudes of 1,500 to 2,000 m (4200 to 6500 Feet).In their natural habitat, the plants contract considerably during the dry season, sometimes pulling down completely under the soil. Their flowers can push up through the dirt. It is somewhat susceptible to rot and should therefore only be watered moderately even during the growing season. If kept perfectly dry in winter, it can tolerate temperatures as low as -5°C (23 °F). When grown correctly, it rewards the cactus gardener with a generous abundance of pink-purple flowers. [syn.
