Named after the Dutch plant collector J. Heurnius (1587-1652). Until today about 50 species have been described, most of them are native to southern Africa. Growth upright, short and motley. Blossomed, streaked or dotted flowers, some with papillae, usually flat with a beaded center ring or bell-shaped. Almost all the flowers still show a small intermediate lobe between the five end lobes. Culture in partial shade without problems. During the growing season water and fertilize regularly.
